Stuff We Love: Dog Toy Review
One of Piper's all-time favourite toys is her Hide-a-Squirrel from Outward Hound. We gave it to her for her 1st birthday and it became a fast favourite. The squirrels are the perfect size for her mouth and she LOVES to squeak them at us and try to get us to chase her. She also loves getting them out of the tree trunk, which has several holes so I can pull on them too, which makes it even better.
So far the squirrels have been pretty durable, but she was really going to town on the base of the trunk. There was some cardboard in the base that was just too tempting. When she started to tear through fabric (and she doesn't typically destroy toys) I just removed the cardboard and asked my Mom to whip out her sewing machine and stitch it shut again. Voila! New and improved. She usually plays with her squirrels until she literally falls asleep on them. It. is. the. cutest.
Why we love it: The toy is durable, fun, and the squeaker is not irritating. Bonus points for the cuteness factor.
Room for improvement: The cardboard isn't needed at the base. The cloth the squirrels are made of is a bit thin. A more destructive dog would rip them to shreds.
Overall review: 4.5 paws out of 5!
