Best Dog Friendly Patios in Washington D.C.

It's almost fall, and that means you have to squeeze the most out of patio season! In DC it's also Barktoberfest (click the link for more info on the @DCDogMoms Instagram feed) on Friday, September 15th! Since we visited a lot of patios and dog friendly places in D.C. over the last fews weeks, here's a round-up of our favourites.

Why we love it: The beer was great (they had a sour that was just perfect on a hot day), food was fantastic, and the vibe in the neighbourhood was lively with music and dancing across the street. Plus the patio has umbrellas, which we've realized is a must in the summer heat with your dog! They also had water bowls under all the tables, rather than just one somewhere on the patio. Piper also got to greet every single person that came in or out, so she was happy!

If we lived in DC we'd be regulars here! We loved the different seating / games areas and the vine covered crate dividers everywhere. The Edison lights gave this place a cozy vibe as the sun was setting. Bonus points for having all kinds of lawn games and CaliBurgers on site! They also host the odd dog-friendly event, which we wish we could've gone to! Water bowls were also not overly visible or accessible - so make sure to bring your own water.

The vibe was great, and misting fans were essential. It was a bit on the crowded side, but we found a spot along the edge rail that had bag hooks - or doggie leash hooks (depending on your perspective) which was perfect. Unfortunately there were no dog water bowls and thankfully we had our own. Piper got lots of cuddles and attention here - so she clearly had a great time.

Beer-garden-therapy dog may be my new career.

Authentic beer garden feel. Love the heavy wooden tables and barrels. Lots of room between tables so it wasn't as crowded and Mom wasn't as worried about me getting stepped on. No visible dog water bowls, and we had come for Dog Happy Hour (as listed on their website) but the wait staff didn't seem to know about this. Super friendly staff and lots of other well behaved doggies were hanging out too. Grab a lower table so that your pooch can sit on the bench with you.

Nice patio seating with the couches, outdoor TVs, and an array of high and low tables. Lots of water bowls and different seating areas, which is nice if your dog is more (or less) sociable. Good food, and great beer. It's also near the ball park, so head here for a drink before any dog friendly National's games! Did anyone go to Bark in the Park?

Beautiful patio, especially in the evening. The staff were wonderful and brought out a water bowl immediately. They also gave us a nice table a little bit out of the way so Piper could lay down out of the traffic area. Great food and the best Margherita we've had outside of Mexico!

Cute patio and very good tacos, but no shade! We would've stayed a while and had another drink, but it was just too hot. They did have a water bowl out, but even it was super hot to the touch from being in the direct sunlight.
