Stuff We Love to Do: Dog Friendly Hotels

We were looking for dog friendly hotels for while we were in Washington DC and found Kimpton hotels. We don't have Kimpton Hotels in Canada (although apparently we will soon!), so we were curious about how nice they were and truly pet friendly.

They market themselves to be very pet friendly and they're pet policy is outstanding:

"At every Kimpton boutique hotel, we invite you to bring your furry, feathery or scaly family member — no matter their size, weight, or breed, all at no extra charge. If your pet fits through the door, we’ll welcome them in. There’s more to our pet-friendly policy than just a no-fuss check-in and scratch behind the ear, though. We’ve got all the goodies you need to keep your pet pampered. Plus at certain properties our Directors of Pet Relations are on hand (or paw, as it were) to give you and your buddy a tail-wagging welcome."

Yes, pets are family! Yes, there should be no additional hotel fee! We were hooked and had to check out a Kimpton. We booked the Kimpton Palomar in Dupont Circle in Washington D.C. We checked in, and the room had a super cute (and clean!) pet bed, a cookie, food and water bowls, poop bags, and even a portable water bottle/bowl! And there's a hotel wine happy hour that welcomes your pooch! And apparently they do this at every hotel! Piper and I hit the lobby and I got some vino and she got lots of love and attention. We were both happy.

Dog Friendliness: 5 paws out of 5!

What we love: The hotel was super clean (no signs of fur if you have allergies and this is a concern) and this extended to the pet supplies, which is wonderful, since we've learned that pet bowls and beds aren't always cleaned to the same standards! And even though there were dogs coming and going all the time it was nice and quiet. The staff were also great and clearly used to and welcoming to our furry friends. The room even had pet themed artwork, so you know you're in the right place! We would definitely recommend a stay at a Kimpton with your pet!
