Stuff We Love To Do: Stay at Historical Boutique Hotels

We drove through West Virginia and it was as beautiful as we imagined. We stopped along the way to hike up to the Seneca Rocks and see Blackwater Falls (both of which are dog friendly hikes) and were treated to some gorgeous views. The next day we also did some hiking in Hocking Hills - which is also just a short drive away. There are lots of other dog friendly hikes in the area and we wish we had had more time for more of them!
The Blennerhassett Hotel has been rated one of the top luxury hotels in West Virginia and you can see why. The hotel was built in 1889 by a prominent Parkersburg business man during the oil and gas boom in the area and was a decadent show of opulence for the time. Since then the hotel has been renovated and upgraded to modernize it, but has maintained its historic integrity and is registered on the list of National Historic Places. The hotel's architecture and original antiques make you feel the grandeur of the era, while enjoying all the modern amenities. Their instagram handle @blennyhotel reflects their cheeky, modern take on their historic hotel.
The hotel is very dog friendly and has a small dog fee, and no size restrictions. They even had a welcome sign for Piper and treats ready for her! If you're looking for a quaint town to explore after a day of hiking in the region this is the place to stay! It's perfect for a weekend getaway with your furry family.

What we loved: The original antique furniture makes this place stand out, and the food is fantastic! Make sure to order room service - the restaurant is top notch!
